Bike riding our roads is a true blessing that we often take for granted as cyclists. If you take for a example a car doing 20 mph on a road that is marked for 60 mph traffic, you would expect that car to have its flashers turned on. In doing so, the driver identifies himself as legal on the road and being safety conscious for all users as they are acknowledging that they are well below the speed limit.
Yes, these lights do create a more visible presence for cyclists on the road, and I think they go along ways in showing respect to the other users on the road that we are concerned for their safety as well. We can only control what we can control, and that’s to always ride to the right and ride with a light.
